the landmarks and important buildings of their relativ cities are no longer fisical connected to them.
you can play every type of sport inside your 15-sqm-living-room; why you shouldn't be able to get the same feeling in the fields of sight-seeing, of traveling, of relaxing too?!
you are free to chose an adventurous safari in southern africa or a walk trough the hyde-park in australia. you aren't that affine to nature?! so you should try to sit comfortable in your sofa and thereby slide on max.speed trough the gallerys with the shinkansen-express! to fast?! enjoy a virtual meal in a buenos-aires-steakhouse or take a look in the caesars palace!!
you have your dreams on an arm-length!
on your tv-desk!!
the problem is that the Wii is just trying to copy the reality.
ReplyDeleteand if you go on a real safari there is more than navigating with a controller through images and sounds around you ... being out there alone, the fear, the lack of food and water, sickness, bad hospitals ... its impossible to get these impressions/feelings in virtual reality ... maybe by adding dengue fever to the safari game ;-)
but we think it would be interesting what kind of other impressions than visual/audio you could get in a virtual reality like Wii ... there are some 4D/5D/6D cinemas which try to imitate the real world but we would find it interesting if the cyberspace could give us some new/different impressions that we dont get in reality instead of trying to imitate some feelings in us that can never rech the quality of doing the same thing in real life.

i think the difference between the real life and the virtual simulation is just like the same if you have a sexual relation with or without a condom. in both you have a unique experience - a really deep sense of delight. at one hand you have a 99,9 % safe thing - at the other you have different risks: to get infect with a kinky illnes, to get pregnant (if you want this, it is not a risk :) )...but you have risks!
ReplyDeleteSo the Wii-World could be a safe way to enjoy the nature (with some limitations), to have a clean environment (in a real-safari you bring also a heavy pollution in the different environments!!) and to get a cheap and interesting in-view of a foreign country.
Maybe (like in the relationship) it's much more interesting to take risks when you are on tour - but also a footballgame on a real court would be more intense, like a game in the living-room....
societies were changing - medias have to change!!
